Intellectual property refers to creations of property that includes intangible creations of the

is authorised for registering and protecting intellectual property in the UAE.
The basic aim of Intellectual Property law is to benefit the creators of intellectual property, there
are four main categories of Intellectual property:
● Copyright: Art, literary works and music, Federal Law No. 7 of 2002 on Copyrights and
Related Rights
● Trademark: Names (Company, Service and Products) and logos, Federal Law No. 37 of
1992 Concerning Trademarks
● Patent: For inventions and processes, Federal Law No. 31 of 2016, promulgated by Law
No. 17 of 2002
● Trade secrets: For codes and processes
